Happy Mother's Day ~

Here is how you make kaale chunne (black chickpeas), a protein-ridden food that is so good for you and delicious with rice.

[Store Kaale chunne in a big glass jar]. Soak a cup and a half overnight in water.

the next day, put kaale chunne and enough water to soak all the chunne in a pressure cooker. add salt and cook on high for twenty minutes.

open cooker carefully:

in a separate pan, add chopped onion in oil and brown:

then add about five karchis (3/4 cup?) of crushed tomatoes to onions:

cook:

then add onion tomato mixture into kaale chunne:

add regular masalas (turmeric, red mirchi (spice), and garam masala (coriander and cumin ) and boil with no cover for a bit on high/medium high:

here is the arbi (taro root). peel, cut and boil taro root in water in the microwave for twenty minutes. when soft, add in pan with oil. add cumin seeds and chaat masala (can buy) and lemon juice and chopped onion and tomato. voila.

and we will have leftover bandh gobi and pakodi in the yogurt. yay!!!! and ladoo for dessert.
