been feeling a bit glum. I need to get back in touch with my Inner Goddess. I worked a lot in the past with the Goddess Oracles by Hrana Janto. Last week I picked up the Goddess Inspiration Oracle Guide at half price books. The Oracle contains 80 Goddesses. I consulted the Oracle on a few things I needed guidance on and tonight I picked the Goddess Nyai Loro Kidul: Goddess of the Seas. The message is: Powerful forces lie within you. Do not avoid them. Powerful, dark and moody potential births itself within me a couple days before my period. In a separate spread I pulled out Goddess Inanna; She is basically my namesake. So much confusion and moody wandering before there is even an ounce of clarity. And after her Goddess Shakti showed Her Self to me. Through all the confusion, darkness and uncertainty, there is Strength at the "end of the road."
Green Mung Daal
put 1 cup of moong lentils in the slow cooker:
add shredded ginger:
add 3/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp haldi (turmeric):
add 4 and 1/2 cups of boiled water (pouring water from the tea boiler):
mix everything and cook on high for a long time and cover : )
beautifully cooking (after about 2.5 hours):
the moong daal came out really nice. make sure to give thadka (butter, red mirchi and garam masala). after shopping for a bit, I came home and fell asleep. finally ate my daal at 10:15 at night with my alu parantha : ) bon appetit!

Pakode : )
#pmsinglikecrazy #craving pakode:
make batter: mix besan (chick pea flour), water, chopped spinach, onion (cut long), salt, red mirchi, garam masala and baking powder (just like besan pooda : ). make sure the batter is thick enough. mine came out a little thin this time.
warm vegetable oil (used canola here) to medium:
make sure to add a lot of onion
scoop some batter with tablespoon and put in oil. you're supposed to use your hands but I cut my finger in the blender again and it hurts and there's a bandaid on it so I'm using a spoon today.
it's cooking!!
flip : )
pretty pakoda:
this time I'm cooking two at a time:
flip : ) flip a couple times until they get toasty:
beautiful pakodas:
three at a time:
if the pakodas come out thick, you can cut them in half and cook them again. slicing:
back in the oil:
: )
the little crispies are my favorite : )
these ones got burnt which means turn the heat down a tad. but I ate em anyway cause I like burnt things:
my pakode : )
"Projection makes perception. We look inside first, decide the kind of world we want to see and then project that world outside, making it the truth as we see it. We make it true by our interpretations of what it is we are seeing. If we are using perception to justify our own mistakes - our anger, our impulses to attack, our lack of love in whatever form it may take - we will see a world of evil, destruction, malice, envy and despair. All this we must learn to forgive, not because we are being "good" and "charitable," but because what we are seeing is not true. We have distorted the world by our twisted defenses, and are therefore seeing what is not there. As we learn to recognize our perceptual errors, we also learn to look past them or "forgive." At the same time we are forgiving ourselves, looking past our distorted self-concepts to the Self That God created in us and as us." - Preface, A Course in Miracles

I just spent a half hour boiling steel-cut oatmeal on the stove and it turned out perfect this time. I didn't even burn the pot. I topped it with cranberries, pepitas, pecans, walnuts, pistachios and it was perfect. I ate a few spoons and then unfortunately, the bowl toppled over and the oatmeal spilled on the carpet. darn. #making oatmeal again #nothing happens perfectly the first or second time in my life #something is always toppling over

Achari Paneer (Paneer w storebought Achari seasoning)
cut some green bell pepper, tomato and onion:
and paneer:
add olive oil to pot:
you can get this achari seasoning which is yellowish from the store but we have a red color seasoning:
add paneer to olive oil:
then add achari seasoning. mix and make sure all paneer bits get a good coating of seasoning:
add a little salt:
then add veggies:
mix and cook uncovered for about ten minutes on medium:
so pretty : )
------------------------------------------------------------
cut some onion and two cloves of garlic for thank [the Punjabi final element]:
then brown onions in olive oil. do NOT add masala right away. you have no idea how many times I've been yelled at for putting the masala in too soon.
THEN add red mirchi and garam masala:
add to daal (lentils):
aloo bengan (eggplant with potato) was already made : )
